We had company last night and stayed up late, and we all slept in this morning...Hannah woke up around 8am and came in to visit us, and she reminded me that we had planned a surprise for the morning. She and I went downstairs and made cinnamon rolls (not from scratch...give me a break), and then we took our tray of food upstairs and had a family breakfast in bed. It's about 10am now, and I am in the family room watching Hannah play in the back yard. Our yard drains into a little creek...It's man-made, but it's got cattails and wildflowers, and a few frogs and ducks. If I were Hannah's age I'm sure I'd imagine it was some great river, or the perfect hiding place for baby Moses. Hannah's out there now on its "banks", basking in the sun in her bathing suit with a tiny pillow and an umbrella, picking all the dandelions she can find.
We adults make life way too complicated.

Thanks for putting that beautiful picture in my head of Hannah enjoying the drainage ditch (or whatever it is) with her bathing suit and umbrella...she is a doll-baby!
I agree...we let life get way too complicated.
And, I MISS YOU!!
